  • Talking to someone who is also HIV-positive
  • Information about Positive African's Mutual Aid (PAMA), Nieuwe Nederlanders, Jongpositief, Positive Kids (children and their families), Poz&Proud, Positivo, women with HIV, and the Marieke Bevelanderhuis
  • Information about the local branch of the "Hiv Vereniging"
  • Information and support about what you can do if you are dissatisfied with treatment and/or assistance

The "Servicepunt" and new ideas for and by people with HIV and those affected
Are you looking for people who are also HIV-positive and with whom you can develop an idea or plan that would be of benefit for other people with HIV? Are you a family member or friend of someone living with HIV and would like to set-up a support group with others? Do you know any women with HIV and would want to bring them together? Have you been toying with an idea, but are not sure about the next step? Then make yourself known at the "Servicepunt".
There might be HIV-positive people who have ideas or plans that can be of assistance to other people with HIV and their families and/or friends. The "Jongpositief" group is an example of the fruition from such a plan. An idea from a youth with HIV helped along with support from the "Servicepunt". In this way, independent projects can be realised. The "Servicepunt"'s role may be varied. Sometimes, it's merely facilitating discussion so as to aid in further development of a plan. Also, it may be to facilitate coordination between people working with similar plans. The latter, ensures that people with similar plans are in contact with each other. From experience we've learnt that many hands can get the job done. This underlines the fact that more and more HIV-positive people are continuing to work and study, so they are unable, like any other people to spend time individually on volunteer projects.
From the onset, the "Servicepunt" is there to provide support and some direction to your ideas or plans. But they also can help to acquire funding. What form the support takes is dependent on all the affected parties.

What next with your plan?
The fastest way to answer your questions, is to ring this number: 020 689 25 77 between 2 PM and 10 PM on monday, tuesday and thursday. At first you will speak with one of our volunteer workers. They will ensure that within three working days you will be put in contact with someone at the national office of the "Hiv Vereniging".

The world house

The  world  house  is  a  meeting  place  for  the  undocumented, people  without  a valid  staying  permit. People  with few rights but with a lot of plans and ideas for their future.

There  are  approximately  15.000  undocumented  people  living  in Amsterdam  which  includes  also  many  children.  About  2.000  of them  are  asylum  seekers  who have finished  their legal  process. Many came as labor immigrants, others have fallen victim to sex-trafficking or a failed marriage migration.

In  the  world  house  they  can  catch  their  breath,  reflect  on  their personal  situation  and  most  of  all:  take  matters  into  their  own hands.  They  can  exchange  experiences  and  develop  initiatives together.  It  is  often  difficult  for  undocumented  people  to  speak freely with their friends about their illegal stay in the Netherlands.
But in the world house, talking and discussion are encouraged.  What  are  the  issues  which  people have  to  face  daily?  How  are  you  managing  your health,  labor  and  family  if  you  don’t  have  valid staying permits?

NOPPAL

The principle objective of NOPPAL is to give psychological, medical and social support to people living with the HIVnoppal virus. NOPPAL has been formed to appeal mainly to HIV positive immigrants in the Northern three provinces of the Netherlands: Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe, regardless of their sexual preference, their race, religion or age.

NOPPAL tries to reach it’s objective by providing a framework where those concerned can freely express themselves, pick up their lives again and where their individual talents can be restored and where knowledge about the disease can be obtained through contact with other members and organizers.

Tam-Tam

There is a group who don’t want any contact with fellow hiv-positive people due to the taboo, but about half of thetam tam people we assist do like to meet other hiv-infected people. There are also some of them who would like to become active within the HIV Association. That is the reason why we started the Tam-Tam project in 2008 to stimulate the ability to cope with their hiv-status. Every third Saturday of the month we meet from 1:30 – 5:00 PM at the Fraterhuis Elim, Schiphollaan 30 in Tilburg where people can meet others and exchange experiences. For many this is the only possibility to talk about their hiv-status and is therefore of utmost importance for them to accept their own hiv-status and to work on a positive self-image.
